Presented at Science Centre Singapore, as part of Voilah! France Singapore Festival 2021
Fantasium had the privilege of presenting What Is Left of Reality, an award-winning immersive installation that has travelled from Paris to London, Montreal, and finally — Singapore.
Co-directed by Pierre Zandrowicz and Ferdinand Dervieux, this haunting and visually poetic work explores the psychological and existential distress caused by climate change, a phenomenon now commonly referred to as eco-anxietyor solastalgia.
Installed at Science Centre Singapore, the piece marked a striking presence in the Voilah! France Singapore Festival's digital arts program. Using Microsoft’s Kinect Azure technology and expansive video projection, the experience allowed visitors to move through a responsive digital environment - a landscape shaped by the real accounts of individuals facing the emotional toll of an unraveling planet.
With an evocative soundscape by Christopher Knight, and participation from environmental advocate Camille Étienne and philosopher Emanuele Coccia, the installation resonated with both science-focused visitors and contemporary art audiences. As climate consciousness grows across generations, What Is Left of Reality invites us to feel, not just think, about what’s changing around (and within) us.
The project was produced by Arnaud Colinart (Atlas V) and supported by IDFA DocLab x CNC.
From Les Ailleurs Festival (Paris) to BFI Southbank (London) and MUTEK (Montreal), this internationally acclaimed piece brought its powerful message to Singapore — igniting conversation, reflection, and a sense of shared urgency.
📍 Location: Science Centre Singapore
📅 Dates: 3–5 December 2021 (Festival), continuing 6 December – 3 April 2022
